audit is built and maintained by one person at bjole.dev. It started as an internal tool — a way to screen companies quickly without burning analyst hours. After running a few hundred audits internally, the answer was "this would be useful to other people too."
We don't sell ads, we don't resell your inputs, and we don't train models on customer audits. The audit you run is yours; we charge you per report and that's the whole business model.
The code is mostly open-source. The CLI that runs the same nine-section pipeline as the hosted product is on GitHub — link in the API docs. The hosted product wraps it with auth, billing, persistence, and a viewer. If you'd rather run it yourself, you can.
